Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus
ISAV infects endothelial cells and, as the name implies, it causes severe anemia of infected fish. The fish develop pale gills, and may swim close to the water surface, gulping for air. However, the disease can also develop without the fish showing any external signs of illness. In these cases, the fish maintain a normal appetite and then they suddenly die. The disease can progress slowly throughout an infected farm and, in the worst cases, death rates may approach 100%.
ActivaQ® ISAV Viral Load KIT is designed to be used with the official detection method of ISAV recommended by World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and also approved by SERNAPESCA. This method detects ISAV viral genome segment 8 and salmonids gene ELF-1α by Taqman Real Time PCR. This kit allows sensitive and high fidelity absolute quantification of the ISA viral RNA copies.
